Service Description

Instructor: Harold Gans 6 Weeks Course Dates: June 6, 13, 20, July 11, 18, 25 Time: 9:30AM-11:30AM Cost: $125 member $140 nonmember Location of Class: ACAA, 45 Forest Ave. Ambler, PA Pen and Ink has been used as a drawing media as early as 800 BC. It is a more permanent media, provides bold lines and requires fewer supplies. Mr. Gans will give a brief history of pen and ink drawing and then discuss various subjects such as pen size, crosshatching and line width selection. We will have discussions on value and hue when working with watercolors or colored pencil. Working with subject matter provided by Mr. Gans, you will work with pencil sketches to develop your picture. You will then finalize the picture using ink pens and applying color using watercolors or colored pencils. All skill levels are welcomed. You will be provided with a required Materials List one week prior to the first class. Mr. Gans will contact you to discuss the list and any questions that you may have. BIO Harold Gans spent his younger years growing up in Havertown, PA where he began his art career drawing tractor-trailers. Studying engineering in college, Gans improved his technical drawing ability and kindled a lasting interest in architectural drawing. His artistry hit full stride during his Army stint stationed in Germany. Some of his work appeared in "Stars & Stripes" magazine, and many of the pieces on his website, www.haroldwgansart.com, were inspired by or drawn during his time in Europe. While raising his family, Gans expanded his artistic repertoire from pencil into pen and ink, oil paints and watercolor. After a 50+ year civil engineering career he is now enjoying his retirement. Gans has found that travel inspires his artwork, and he devotes some time every day to one of his works-in-progress, whether it be a commissioned piece or a personal piece. Refund Policy Sometimes due to unforeseen circumstances a class must be cancelled. When that happens, we will be happy to credit you for another class or a different session throughout the year. This credit will be good for one (1) year and can be used for any class that has availability and space. If you cancel your class after registering and reserving a space, you will receive a credit good for one (1) year that can be applied to a future class.
