Service Description

Instructor: Nancy Kolkebeck 7 Weeks Course Dates: Wednesday, Jan. 21, 1/28, 2/4, 2/11, 2/18, 2/25, 3/4 Time: 9:30AM-12:00 Cost: $320 members $335 nonmembers Location of Class: ACAA, 45 Forest Ave., Ambler, PA This is an introduction to wheel throwing as one of the primary vessels forming techniques. Students should wear comfortable clothing that will allow for straddling the wheel. The goal of this class is to explore wheel throwing as a way to form clay vessels. We will discuss clay as an artistic medium and review wedging, forming, trimming, and glazing. Wheel throwing demonstrations for centering, opening, lifting, and shaping your piece. This class is for the beginner, as well as the experienced student. There will be an additional $25.00 clay and glaze fee paid to the instructor at the beginning of class. Bio Nancy Kolkebeck loves “playing in the mud”. When she was little it was mud pies. Now it is exploring all the ways you can create with mud/clay. Before starting a family, she apprenticed to a potter. Then life happened and there was a 35-year hiatus for family and career. When she retired, she found “playing in the mud” again. For the past 14 years she has been trying new techniques, exploring glaze possibilities, having fun, and rediscovering her creativity. 1W26-WT-WAM-NK
