Instructor: Lindsay Wallace 7 Weeks Time: Tuesday, 6:00pm to 8:30pm Cost: $235.00 Location: Ambler Art Center For this beginner gouache painting class participants are encouraged to step outside of their normal techniques and bring a child-like sense of play and wonder to these sessions. Gouache has a unique texture and quality that combines the beloved qualities of many other painting mediums. This class is ideal for experienced and non-experienced painters. The last two classes will be designated for a personal project. Gouache (pronounced gwahsh or goo-ahsh) is an opaque, water-based paint made of natural pigments, water, and a binder-like gum arabic. It is similar to watercolor, but features a heavier pigment load and dries to a smooth, flat, velvety matte finish with no light reflection. Material List: 1) a large format watercolor paper pad (24+ sheets) (Or several sized watercolor pads) 2) Gauche Gel set, Himi Jelly Gouache paint, set of 48 assorted colors available on Blick 3) assorted paint brushes of choice 4) pencils, erasers Artist statement: Lindsay Wallace is a multidisciplinary artist whose work is rooted in place-based and embodied experience. Her practice emerges from an ongoing dialogue between inner and outer landscapes; a process described as a "primal dialogue". Through this exchange, image and meaning unfold intuitively. Her body of work moves between realism and abstraction, dreamscape and possibility, harmony and impact. Archetypal forms surface alongside gestures that evoke belonging, land, and memory. At times, the work takes on a shamanic quality, acting as a bridge between worlds the visible and the unseen, the internal and the external. Creation, for her, is spiritual. 1F26EV-GP-LW
